The Voices movie review

The Voices is a 2014 dark comedy directed by Marjane Satrapi and Starring Ryan Reynolds, Gemma Arteton and Anna Kendrick. Ryan Reynolds plays a guy named Jerry, who works at a bathtub factory and who suffers from hallucinations. He lives with his cat Mr Whiskers and his dog Bosco, both of whom talk to him.

Ryan Reynolds also does the voices of both of the pets. This was a brilliant idea as the voices are essentially just apart of Jerry's delusions. By having Reynolds doing the voices, Marjane is letting us know they are just another side of Jerry. The supporting cast also give fantastic performances.

The movie is darkly funny. The main character has a mental illness but is never demonized. Jerry is a very sympathetic character who you root for through out the movie. Overall this movie is brilliantly funny and charming.
I highly recommend it!
